Rate class is account context, not a shopping shortcut.
Rate class or customer class helps describe how an account is billed. It does not, by itself, prove premise utility, eligibility, current availability, or a right to enroll.
Where it may appear
Look for rate schedule, tariff, customer class, service classification, or similar wording on current utility material. Names and placement vary.
Why it matters
- Default-service context can differ by class.
- Usage, demand, fees, and contract terms may be reviewed differently.
- Official source dates and account evidence matter before comparing information.
When the label is unclear
Keep the current bill and ask for confirmation. Do not replace an unclear class with a ZIP assumption or a historical example.
